Summary Notes from Hall Trustees’ meeting 24/9/24
- There are two new microphones for use in the Whittome Hall, and the headset is working again. The Hall is now licensed to use more channels, which should reduce interference.
- Arrangements for the AGM on 15/10/24 were agreed. Twenty members will constitute a quorum for the meeting.
- Arun Agarwal announced that he would not be standing for re-election as a trustee in the “elected trustee” category.
- Statements by candidates for election as trustees will be circulated at the start of the meeting.
- Members attending will be asked to approve expenditure of up to £60,000 on refurbishing the House. Maurice O’Shea will be giving a presentation about the financial implications of this.
- There will be an opportunity at the refreshment interval to taste wines from our new suppliers.
- As at 24/9/24, enough tickets had been sold for the Brighton Beach Boys’ concert on 4/10/24 to ensure that a profit would be made (for the Hall).
- Arrangements for the Celebration Quiz Night on 16/11/24 were going well.
- A new till, which totals sales, is being purchased for the Bar.
- A statement of room capacity is to be displayed in each room/Hall.

- It was confirmed that, if hirers are running a ticketed event, i.e. selling tickets which include alcoholic drinks (as opposed to using the Hall’s Bar), they must apply for a temporary licence.
- Hall users are politely asked not to bring mobility scooters into the building – however, it is the very large scooters which cause problems and it is hoped to develop a more precise policy on this.
- The named Safeguarding Lead for the Hall is Jane Jones.
- Positive feedback about the Hall had been received from the regional organisers of NAFAS.
